Flying off~

Been so busy these few days.
Or rather these few months.
Army's really time and energy consuming.
Been spending my book outs staying at home and playing dota.
Hahahaha.
I'm like a school boy addicted to gaming again.
No social life.
Can't believe I'm turning 20 this year.
And can't believe all my "teenage" cousins are turning 30.
It's quite scary to feel that we're getting older.

Been appointed as the Cadet Wing Commander last week.
My mind was so saturated the last book out.
So many things to remember and do.
Shagged mentally.
A few days into becoming the CWC, I've realised that my decisions cannot please everybody.
This is actually applicable to real life.
And we must be careful of the parties affected by your decisions.
And not close one eye about it.

Going to fly off soon and I'm not as excited as I bluffed myself to be.
Not going to see my friends and families for 3 weeks is still going to be a pain in the neck.
Gonna miss whoever that misses me.
HAHAHAHA.
Looking back at my schooling days, I kind of missed times where I can just sit down at playgrounds at night and talk to my friends.
About relationship problems, family problems, studies and many more shit.
Growing up makes me learn how to fix problems myself.
Or maybe I've just gotten better at hiding them.
I miss having a good friend where I can share everything with.
And I miss cycling around my neighbourhood alone, de-stressing and singing my lungs out.
I miss going out to climb and getting myself so shagged out.
I miss feeling accomplished.
Simply said,
I miss civilian life.

Bye see you all on 5 march!

What is it to be an officer?

Well, went to internship yesterday at 3 Guards again.
Had talks with people from all the different spectrum.
From man to CO.
It was an engaging day for me as I've learnt a few things from them.
So most of the senior commanders asked, what is it to be an officer?
Then suddenly, I had this long reflection about my time in Army.
From BMT up to now, I've learnt many things.
Like how to communicate with people.
How to treat friends like friends and how to treat superiors like superiors.
I've been through quite tough times to know that people are selfish.
That's what OC said.
Which I find it very true.
People are all selfish by nature.
Everyone just want to help themselves deep inside them.
Even though sometime someone portray him/her self as one that will sacrifice his time for others, but deep inside, he might be complaining a little.
Just a little complain deep down in your heart is enough to prove that we humans are all selfish.
People cover their own asses and stuffs.
The thought of being an officer has not hit me so hard until the two days of internship.
What's my purpose of serving the nation and being an officer?
This question has been posed to me since BMT and the start of OCS repsectively.
And I really haven't answered myself that ever since.
Up till now, I'm still really unsure but at least I can say that being an officer for me is to become a better person.
An officer is understanding to man, respected by man and is a very capable person who is also respectful of others.
Respect plays a key role in shaping an officer.
What 2LT Lester told me in BMT I still haven't forget.
Repsect and Humility.
Whenever I feel like I'm a fucked up cadet in OCS, I'll think "What makes you qualified to be one?"
There's so many people out there with much more values and capabilities as compared to me.
So why do you think you're in OCS.
Why do you think you earn a place over here?
I'm probably not the best person they can choose to come to OCS but definitely, I'll learn the way of the officer's call.
These values that I've learnt in OCS will carry with me throughout the rest of my NS life as a young 2LT and also throughout the journey in life.
The trip to 3 Guards is not really a LIFE CHANGING moment for me but it's more of a self-reflection trip for me.
As I always said, it's always good to reflect upon yourselves and you will really learn so much more.

And all this aside, it has shocked me that people undergo so much changes after tertiary studies.
Be it guys going to NS or girls going to Univeristy.
Not saying any of the gender became more fucked up or what.
But I'm saying things have changed so much.
There's hardly people who looked back at their lives anymore to reminisce the times spent in secondary schools or JC.
Well I do.
And it makes me feel alive and makes me feel that I'm growing.
And I'm not being dragged away by the social norms.
Makes me feel that sometimes, we don't have to keep chasing things and renewing ourselves.
Because at the end of the day, happiness does not necessarily come from the "new" and sometimes it may be from the "old".
So look back in life and call your old friends up to catch up with them.

Discipline

It's such a big issue that is happening in my wing now.
Our discipline level is really damn bad.
Instructors have to step in to reprimand us.
Even outsiders have to step in today.
At 3 Guards.
Felt a sense of shame.
Officer cadets who are going to commission in 3 months time to become officers.
How are we going to expect standards from the men and commanders if we ourselves are fucked up?
Intern tomorrow again.
Hope it'll be better.
LIGHTS OUT!

But seriously, some people need to grow some brains.

Thinking

Just had this random thought.
Which is kinda like what I've always been thinking in the past.
I'm thinking that 2 days of civilian life every week is not enough.
It's like 5/7 of my life wasted.
Then I keep thinking of how little time I have for myself to enjoy and live the best out of it.
And I would be like FASTER ORD!!!!
And then I think, will studying in university grant me this thing about enjoying my life as a civilian?
Not that true.
Cause of all the stresses from the exams, hardly you'll get time to relax and chill out too.
And then when we go to the working force as adults in the future, will we actually be enjoying our life?
So the question I want to bring across to everyone is,
WHEN WILL WE EVER HAVE TIME TO ENJOY OURSELVES ?
Honestly, I have no answer to this question.
It's so sad to think that the responsibility of life weighs you down as you age.
But I guess the only resolution to this is to do things that you enjoy everyday.
OR
Enjoy the things that you are doing everyday.
This is especially relatable to those who are in NS.
Enjoy the accompany of your buddy, your section mates and platoon mates.
They're the only thing that you have for this 2 years.
Try and make the best out of it!

2013

Hi guys, the reason why I never blog for so long is probably cause I want to make a 1 x good post for this new year.
Before I start, it's always good to look back at my previous new year's post.
http://chao-dar.blogspot.sg/2012/12/my-life-as-jc-kid.html

Can't believe it.
I'm going to be a 8 month soldier in 10 days time.
It's been so long since I've entered Army and serve this nation. (Well not long enough to say ORD LO)
It's been a very enriching 8 months I must say.
The first 5 months of 2013 I wouldn't have much to say.
Cause I'm still enjoying myself as a CIVILIAN.
HAHAHA.
I think probably everyday playing dota hahahaha.
But ever since I enlisted on 9 May 2013, perception of life has slowly start to change.
It's always good to take away something from each year.
It makes you a better person.

So let's start with BMT!
BMT was a very fruitful two months for me.
I've learnt SO much.
From a blur recruit, slowly learning how to interact with people.
Learning how to treat people with respect cause 2LT Lester taught me so.
Until now I still haven't forget what 2LT lester taught me about showing respect to people.
It's has kinda path my life for 2013.

POP LO.
Still remember how sad and happy it was to pass out.
Even though it's just POP, I feel proud to be standing on the parade with all my platoon mates.
I bet our sirs and sergeants are also proud of us on that very day.
BMT has really taught me to treat people differently.
And I'm very thankful to have 2SG Phillip, 3SG Asyraf, 3SG Kenneth, 2LT Sean and 2LT Lester as my commanders.
They are really the best commanders I can ever ask for.
Despite all the punishments that we have received as recruits, it was really an enjoyable 2 months in Tekong.
Especially Platoon Sergeant Phillip who taught me about spending with my family.
I feel that I've become a more filial son after entering the Army.

AND BAM, I've been posted to OCS.
It was the best news I received after coming back from my first Bangkok trip with AHC and friends.
The first thought that went through my mind was OMFG.
I'm going to become an officer.
Then slowly many thoughts came to my mind.
Like can I become a good officer?
Would I be looked down upon by others?
Would I be respectable as a leader?
I doubt my own capabilities as I compared myself with my BMT sirs.
All of them are so up there.
And right now, 6 months after OCS, I doubt myself less.
Not trying to say I'm fucking up there but yeah you get what I mean.
HAHAHAHA.
Let's see, 6 months in OCS.
Went through a lot of tiring exercises.
But all these exercises really trained me hard.
All the service term exercises was tiring.
But it made me cherish little things.
Like SLEEP?
Scorpion king was one hell hole.
5D4N slept for 6 hours?
Shag.
Just dig and dig and dig.
Oh and after service term, it was SOCIAL NIGHT!

My social night date!!

My service term platoon mates.
Well 4/6 of them in this picture still with me.
Ben tan's face really last warning.
AND I MISS LUM.
<3 p="">2+ more months and LUM IS BACK!!
Omg how time flies.
And after social night, came hell.
Hell training starts.
All the route marches, trainings for Brunei.
And in a blink of an eye after a few main outfields, we are sitting on the plane heading to Brunei.

Brunei was the worst shit I've ever experienced.
Worst physical shit I mean.
It was so FUCKING TIRING.
Infantry package I carried all the heavy shit.
I tanked all the load with a ingrown toe nail which was so painful.
And when infantry package was finally over, I teared.
I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHY.
I just did.
It was too shag I think.
Then comes JCC.
So fucking hungry.
And it was also the moment where I felt that home was the best place to be at any point of time.
I really missed home so much.
I miss my family.
And all that missing happened while I was sitting on my A-frame while it was raining.
Brunei was so damn miserable.
All the raining and downpour.
Sleeping drenched, fighting drenched, resting drenched, walking drenched, climbing drenched.
So damn miserable.
BUT IT'S OVER AND I GOT

HAHAHA.
Okay so after Brunei training, headed back to Singapore and it was block leave.
And for the first time, I got introduced to clubbing.
I got so drunk that I don't even want to talk about it.
Hahaha but well it was fun to some extent la.
AND BANGKOK #2 CAME.
I TOOK SO MANY VIDEOS.
It was very fun.
I bought a lot of things there.
And I really liked the atmosphere there.
Like how friendly the people are over there.
And how the people talk so soft and elegant in Thai.
Coming back to Singapore felt a little noisy and loud hahaha.
I think I'm gonna compile all the videos to make 1 video hahaha.
IF I HAVE THE TIME.

2013 made me cherish a lot more things.
Like how I cherish my time outside as a civilian.
Booking in really sucks.
And booking out really rocks.
That 5 days in camp, 2 days out made me cherish time so preciously.
That 2 days must be spent so wisely.
And being in the army seriously makes you realise who are your good friends and who's not.
Those that has been meeting up with me during my book outs, I thank you very much for still being part of my life.
And those who are still in the army, I thank you for serving our country.
LOL
Familiar?
2014 is gonna come in a few hours time.
I dread army life for another 1 year.
MAYBE THINGS WOULD BE BETTER AFTER I COMMISSION.
Or maybe it's the other way round.
Ahhh shall go celebrate my new year and book in tomorrow night.
:(
Sorry for this poor effort post as compared to all other posts in the past.
Times have changed.
Enriching life as it may be, it's boring as hell.
Hahahaha.
Let's see what 2014 has to offer me.
HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!
